Dr. McCance-Katz is board-certified in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. She has been working in the field of addiction medicine for 20 years as a clinician, teacher and clinical researcher. Her specialty areas include clinical pharmacology of abused drugs, drug interactions, cocaine/ alcohol/ opioid dependence medications development, and co-occurring HIV disease and addiction.

Dr. McCance-Katz is the State Medical Director for the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. She is also the Medical Director of the Physicians’ Clinical Support System - Buprenorphine and Prescribers’ Clinical Support System for Opioid Therapies, CSAT/SAMHSA sponsored national training programs for physicians and clinicians treating patients with clinical need for opioid medications.
