As part of its countywide initiative to reduce underage and binge drinking, Ventura County Limits identified a range of public policies for consideration as strategies for change. Possible options, in addition to the Social Host Ordinance, included homeowner penalties, landlord notification, nuisance abatement policies and loud party laws. In the County of Ventura, most jurisdictions determined the Social Host Ordinance to be the optimal policy to reduce youth access to alcohol and all jurisdictions have adopted Social Host Ordinances.
